Default cirrus woes continued

1996 Cirrus 2.4l -
dash lights, speedo and tach quit working a couple of times,
but came right back on. Quit again and engine started missing, then
died.
Started right back up-
done it twice now....
---
most of you think it is the crank pos sensor, yet some suggested cam
sensor.
--
No codes in system, no check eng light

2K Intrepid did same thing. Crank sensor was intermittent and codes
were not set. At my insistence, dealer looked at "pending" codes with
scanner and found problem.

Looking back (hindsight is always 20/20) engine would occasionally
"stumble" at idle when in gear and stopped in traffic. Since crank
sensor was replaced, "stumble" has not recurred.

Ok when you say dash lites are you refering to the warning lites???? or the
dash nites for driving at nite???? A crank sensor will cause the engine to
cut off/quit and the warning lites to go crazy but will not effect the dash
lites

The instrument cluster lites go out; the tach and the trip odometer quits.
Upon restart everythign workds fine.
Happened twice in the last two days after operation of 1-2 miles/minutes -
then runs fine!

I cant see how the crank/cam sensor is any way related to the Illumination
lites, i can see the tach going out but not the trip odometer,
