After threatening to do it for a while (reading posts here) I've finally
fitted a 'psuedo-changer' cable to my head unit - ipod works a treat on it
for total of £6!

Can't beleive you've taken so long to do it!
Enjoy! (even more knowing you didn't shell out £150 for the proper alfa kit)

Surely the 'proper' lead gives remote control of the iPod through the steering
wheel controls and displays on the dash? Otherwise you've got to fiddle about
with the iPod while driving, no? Although I can see that £6 for a basic stereo
line-in socket is a pretty good deal!

Ah well, can't afford iPod or the lead. I'm still paying for my 147! (and the
36k service last week, and all 4 tyres need changing soon...) :-(

dom.

Yep - no point in paying >£100 for some ipod control thru the steering wheel
controls when you can pay £6 and have a bit of hassle. You just need to plan
ahead with your playlists. Most ipods hold more music than people will ever
listen to on a journey anyhow.

If it's a Blaupunkt with the multi-pin connector (CD/Phone etc..) on the
back, it *should* work - I still had some trepidation making the link
required on the connector (but then again, I'm used to playing with 2-300 HP
motor controllers that tend to go bang quite loudly if mistreated!)

Dunno where Cupra got his lead but if you google group '147 ipod' then there
is a link to my success!

got my lead from car audio direct. It's a fairly easy job if you have the
same head unit.
