Toyota also sells a lot of cars outside the US. Not that the rest of
the world hasn't had economic trouble too, but it's been first and worse
in the US so far.

Used to be, American car makers used to sell a lot of cars abroad too,
but they lost most of those markets in the seventies...

Well I can update this a little. The Georgetown KY and Lafayette, IN
plants were closed from 12-19-08 to 1-7-09 and will close 1-16 &
19-09. Then there will be 5 days in Feb and 6 in March. We haven't got
the exact dates yet..

I haul the engines into the Lafayette In plant.

This country is heading for another 1932 and it's heading there as
planned by our wonderful government. All planned out so that we will
be hurting so bad that we will accept socialism...

You know, this is the first time I have ever heard anyone claiming
the Bush crowd was promoting socialism... but I have to admit that
it has a point...

Right soon after World War Two, (the official end of World War Two was
in 1951) America helped Japan jump start/renew Japan's auto
industry.(Europe too) New auto factories, new American made auto
manufacturing machinery etc.

About twenty five miles up the road from doggy's couch (I-55 Gluckstadt
Exit) is a Nissan factory, I reckon that factory is about five something
whatever years old www.southernautocorridor.com ) Nissan people in
Japan wanted to put their rising sun flag on top of that factory.Guess
what, we didn't let that happen.
