Default O/T virus found and can't delete

I booted today and a virus was found in my IExplorer.exe file. I use
Mozilla, so I hope I am not executing it in any fashion. It's a trojan
horse. "Trojan horse IRC/Back Door.SdBot.113.AJ" I have the free
version of AVG and it can't delete the file, not allowed. I don't use IE
at all, but like to keep it as a browser backup. Is there somewhere I
can download a replacement either full IE or just the ieexplorer exe
file?? I hope that I can at least just delete the file manually. If
not, can someone suggest a way to get rid of this virus and/or what to
use ?? I came here because most here know TONS about pc's and
their workings. I know enough to get by. Thanks to all who help
me........later

Internet Explorer runs from iexplore.exe not iexplorer.exe - double
check that.

If you want to delete it, try rebooting in safe mode - that should let
you delete the file.

Restart the computer normally then do another virus scan. If you get the
all clear, go to windows update and install all the patches it finds for
you. That should restore internet explorer for you.

Yes I did thanks. I misread the file name, it was LEXPLORE, what file is
this?? My IE works fine still with no updating or anything. Guess in the
end, unless that file is needed, all seems to have been fixed. Thanks.
