Infinity Sound System
Here's a question for anyone familiar with the Infinity SOund System:
One of my guys yanked a Rampage CD Player out of his truck and was going to toss it cause the faceplate doesn't illuminate, but he had the Chrysler plugs on it. Just for laughs, I threw it in my LHS. It doesn't really fit, but this is just to see if it would work. Well, it does. Works very well, as a matter of fact. Here's the question/ issue: I have heard that the Chrysler sound systems use a common ground, and that installing a stereo with a NON-Common ground can cause problems. Well, it seems to work great, none of the problems I would have expected. Any caveats with this setup? I don't really care if the head unit burns up, but I really don't want to damage the amp. -- Hachi |

I'm no expert on this, but I'm assuming by non-common ground you mean
it (the speakers) ground back to the head unit rather than just grounding to the body. IMO I don't see how it would cause a problem, plus if it was going to I think it would have already. (Is that your actual name or a nickname?) |

Nickname. I guess you know hachiroku translates to "8 6" Do a Google on hachiroku+drifting. Hachiroku means 86 but refers to the Toyota Corolla GTS (levin or Trueno in the rest of the world) which is Toyota's model # AE86, rear wheel drive. I've owned an '85 since 1986, hence the moniker Hachiroku! |

Here's a quickie for you: http://velocity.isfaster.com/drift/cars/cars.htm "As you probably already know the ae86 (hachiroku) Levin/Trueno is one of the most popular drift cars in Japan. It's relatively cheap and rwd. The reason they are popular is because people don't mind running them into walls and driving around with bumpers held on by tie-ties. There are of course drifters who keep their 'rokus looking nice and sweet. It almost has a cult following in Japan. The major disadvantage to the car is that it is underpowered at 130ps. Of course there is a large tuning aftermarket and many engine swaps available. A common one is the 4agze from the ae111/ae101 and there are now tuners who are swapping the Silvia's ca18det and sr20det." |
