Default Rear shock mounts E46

Anyone know if these are easily installed by a home mechanic? (eg. are any
special tools required)

Hardest part is likely getting access to the bolts. On the E36 I seem to
recall it was easiest via the rear speaker pods!

Maybe on a 2-door. On a sedan you just pull out the trunk liner (not
a trivial task) to gain access to the shock mounts. Then after
loosening the two bolts on each of the mounts you remove the bottom
shock bolts and pull the whole shock out.

The car needs to be jacked up abd the wheel needs to be properly
supported You may want to consult a manual or someone's webpage
account of the procedure before you begin.
