I spent the weekends and summers of my "childhood" helping my dad on the job. He used to do home improvements, build new houses, owned two construction companies at one time or another, etc, etc. I still remember when he'd come up to me on a "school day" and say something like "So, you're doing ok in school, right? Any tests today? All caught up? Yeah, then how'd you like to not go to school today and hang out with me?" *groan* I knew what that meant. I still remember my "work boots" that I wore a hole in the sole of. I've done a little of just about all of it. Framing, trim work (yeah, I know they don't mix), roofing, etc. It *is* really satisfying to work on something and be able to see the results of your work. The job I do now is usually not as um... obvious... I mean the results of my work are not as obvious. I worked today for probably at least four hours building another network testbed and even though I got everything working, nobody will walk by and notice that anything has changed. Just 15-20 network cables and some bits got flipped on routers and switches. Usually it's not even that obvious. Just keep the paychecks coming, and I'll keep on being the @sshole who gets to work early enough to take the best parking spot. :-D (And the one who leaves at 2:30 or so usually, since I got to work so early and all that sorta thing. WOOT!!!) |

We're practically neighbors. I get over to Decatur every so often. Usually for the hot air balloons on Memorial Day, though we skipped it this year since the weather was so overcast and the forecast kept threating rain (don't think it ever materialized though). Likewise, good to see someone here from a familiar place. You wouldn't have a line on any good bugs for sale over there would you. Looking for something in the '64 to '67 range. Scott |

It is a little ruff and has been treated ruff over the years prior to my ownership. I have been working on it and have it in much better shape than when I got it. But it still has a LONG way to go. http://vdubbs64.tripod.com will get you some pics and other stuff. I am planning on attending the Hunstville VW club show next month, maybe we can meet up then. |

I actually ran across your website last year some time. I liked your pictorial and description of the work you did on the front end. Where and when will the Huntsville VW club meet next? Do they have a website or some sort of newsletter and what are the dues if any? Not having a car yet I might not go, but then again it might be a good place to get a line on a where I might buy a local car. Scott |

I hope they still are having the show July 16, 2005 as is shown on their webpage. Give a yell if you think you will try to come and we can meet up and put a face with a name. |
