Default 156 Air Distribution Control

The rotary air control knob has stuck on the face level vents setting.
Can't get air to footwell or screen. I've had the facia off around the
heater controls to get at the cable but the stickage seems to be at
the far end - buried somewhere deep behind the dashboard. My local man
said it would probably need complete removal of dashboard etc at
around £250 labour.
Anyone tackled anything like this?

You don't have to remove completely the dashboard! It's a *common* problem
on 1st series-156, what you can do is removing the top air vents - the one
in the middle of the dashboard - and lubricate the selection part with
teflon spray.
Try...

Thanks very much Jacopo, I'll certainly try this.
