Why wouldn't I spend $800 on a pulled 4.0L engine?

It will arrive soon, its a great little money grab for the Government
coffers, allows even more raises.
Keep all the stuff you remove in a box, just incase.

I think If it came to that I'd just find a 4.0L and put it in

After the fiasco the Ontario system has become, I can't see any other
province stupid enough to do it, but hey.....

I love the report on the test car they used. It passed at something
like 60% of the places and needed $500.00 repairs at the rest.

At least my 86 CJ7 won't need another test, but here in Ontario Canada
it is a utility vehicle and only needs the EGR, PCV, gas cap and air
filter flaps to pass.

Because a 4.2 is a better motor, and you know its history. And that $800
motor you pull will not fit the trans, so you will need to modify that. The
computer won't fit, so you will need that, the exhaust won't fit so you will
need that. (I am advising you to replace the exhaust with a header, so
perhaps that is a bogus problem to have raised.) It will take hours upon
hours to wedge that new 4.0 into your old YJ, and by all accounts the 4.2 is
a better motor. It makes more torque at a lower speed. You can improve it by
getting a 4.0L head for it, that is a good plan. But the MPFI is hands down
without a doubt the better choice. That is, get the 4.0L head and the MPFI,
and you can't do any better. But you can do almost as good, and stlll be
better than a transplanted 4.0, if you just get the MPFI and a header.

After you modify all of the stuff that has to be modified to get the 4.0L
motor into your YJ, you will have spent about as much as you would have
spent putting fuel injection and a header on your 4.2. And, you know where
the 4.2 has been for most of its life, you have a clue where the 4.0 has
been or how hard it has been abused. And, the fuel injection kit will smog
easier because it comes with certification stickers that tell the Smog Nazis
that it has been blessed. You don't seem concerned with Smog Nazis though.

Kyoto (sp??) accord will dictate all, depends on what Martin decides to do.
As for the e-test here (Ontario) yep its a joke and is purely only still
happening cause of the cash it makes the Gov't, The garages don't make squat
on it, they only make money on repairs. That may all change if Dalton
"Bates" brings back photo radar its a bigger cash cow the e-tests.
