Default Gen Ligh Oil Light questions

I installed a new alternator with an internal regulator on my SB 74 i
had the old type of alternator with the socket D+ and external
regulator i think its a motorola regulator.. so i cut the red wire from
the socket and connected it to D+ on the new ALT and connected the B+
battery cable to B+ on the ALT. I then disconnected the external
regulator and saw two spliced wired ( Red Green?) i think. I stopped
there and didnt know what to do next. I started the car and the gen
light came on when i turned the key but when it started the gen light
came off as it should, but the oil light didnt turn on while turning
the key, Is this normal????? or should the oil light come on as well
while turning on the car? I can upload pictures if anyone think it is
necessary.

THANKS A MILLION
*Chris

You're close on the wiring.
Go to my web site and look for:
"Wiring diagram for Type I cars with alternator."

The skinny Red wire on D+ should be spliced to the Blue wire
which is part of the Main harness. This is under the back seat
where the old regulator was. That's the circuit for the "GEN"
light in the speedo.

Your other question: yes, the OIL light should come on when the
key is turned but before the engine starts up.

The wire for the Oil light is Blu/Grn. Try grounding that wire
at the Oil pressure sender (left side of engine) and see if the
Oil light comes on.

Make sure the Blu wire didn't get confused with the Blu/Grn
somewhere.
