Cavalier - measuring fuel pressure

Default Cavalier - measuring fuel pressure

('99 Cavalier 2.2, port-injected.)

This particular car doesn't appear to have a tap on the fuel rail where
a pressure gauge could be attached. The Chevy book calls for a J29658,
which lets you insert a tapped line at the quick-disconnect. This may
be a whole 'pressure kit', or something - Kent-Moore said that their
price for it is $336.

All that I need is something that can go in-line where the
quick-disconnect connects to the rail. So far, I haven't found anything
to do that. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Alternatively, I measured the following ...
- pump pressure with the line plugged : ~65 psi
- pump flow with the fuel line open : ~45 gph
- discharge from the pressure regulator: ~15 gph
(engine off, pump running.)

This last leads me to believe that the pump and regulator are probably
OK: if there's any discharge from the regulator, the pump must be
achieving the regulator pressure. Any opinions appreciated.

(Car woke up dead one morning - cranks, but won't start.)

diagnostics.

Well, I thought the injectors were OK, because it does catch sometimes.
But, looking at the drive with a scope, it looks like the pulses stop -
they're there, and then they're not. Is this possible?
