Default Looking at buying an older vue

I wouldn't buy anything older than an '04, especially if it's V6. V6 prior
to late '04 MY was the old catera engine which was loud, wimpy and
problematic in contrast to the newer Honda Vtech. Many changes were made to
the VUE after 2004. Nowadays a 2005 or 2006 can be bought cheap.

Default Saturn Catera V6 engine

We have a 2000 Saturn LS2 with the Catera V6 engine. The engine is awesome,
especially with the 4T40E transmission. More power than the 3.5 litre, and
runs really clean. No sludge in the engine at 175,000 km. We haven't even
changed the spark plugs yet because in runs so well.

Just steer clear of any 4 cyl. with the VTi auto transaxle.
We have an '03 FWD 3.0 l V6 w/ 75k miles.
Oil changes are a pleasure.
Mileage is about 26-27 mpg.
No problems except a couple of wheel bearings.
