Default upshift lamp

hi everyone;
i have a 1997 SSL 1.9L SOHC, standard tranny. approx 160000 km.
could somebody please help?
whare is the upshift lamp? what is its function?

Default upshift lamp

IIRC it is in the middle of the instrument cluster and just tells you when
to upshift for the lowest emissions. I used to own a car that had this and
usually ignored it anyway.

The owner's manual will give you specifics.
