Default ALT TAB and Sims

Looking for some help here.

I have an AMD FX53 on A8V Deluxe with X800XT Radeon (4.11 drivers), using XP
home. I use N2k3 and GTR. All works brilliantly except for ALT TAB. With
N2k3, if I ALT TAB away and then try to go back, sometimes it works but
usually I get a CTD. With GTR, on trying to return I either get a black
screen or some 'sound bars'. The red-fingered mouse still works but
otherwise I'm buggered.

I've loads of googling and, as a result, tried disabling my dual monitor,
setting the desktop the same as or different from the game, forcing game
select for AA or manual. Nothing seems to make any difference at all. This
is tremendously irritating and makes things like Motec effectively unusable.

I would really appreciate any help from anyone who's come across this
before - never had it myself on my old computer.

Regards

Hi Neil,

alt-tab doesn't work here either, only if I run GTR in windowed mode
(check the config.ini for the parameter). Win98SE, that is. Oh yeah,
and the online crashes are back even with the shiny new intel 100pro b
PCI nick. 8(

All the best & enjoy GTR,

uwe

For what it's worth Neil, I run N2003 and F1C/rFactor (don't have GTR) in
windowed mode and have never had any trouble with XP.

Forgive me if I don't feel sorry for you LOL

Tabbing to the desktop has always been finicky, especially when tabbing out
of a 3D based game.

I'm afraid I have no clue how to solve something like this. There is _so_
much involved, I'm sure the problem is different for every person that has
it.

Are you using D3D or OGL? It might make a difference on how Alt-TAB works...

Hello,

While configuring my TrackIR Pro, i discovered that [ALT]-[TAB] only works
for me, when i'm in the menu's or garage-screen.
When i [ALT]-[TAB] while on the track, i get a black-screen when returning.

I'm using XP-Pro, AMD64 3400+ and ATI-Radeon with latest 4.12 betadrivers.

LOL

I waited many a year for a decent computer - 'er indoors ordered it for me
when I was ill recently. Apparently she polled all my friends as to what the
ultimate system would be and they sure gave her good info. I have 6xAA,
16xAF, all textures high and all games maxed out in every respect and still
never drop below 45 fps and usually in the hundreds. It's even seemed to
have knocked half a second off most of my laptimes although that might just
have been the break from racing for a month

This Alt-Tab thing's got me buggered though.

Regards
