99 Ford Explorer having Gear Problems

Hi I have a 99 ford explorer XLS (4.0 L, V6) with about 77000 miles on
it. Lately whenever I am driving and the car starts shifting into
different gears it always jerks slightly and if I push on the pedal
harder when starting it jerks even harder. A new tranfer case was put
in about 35000 miles ago by ford dealer. So the transfer case oil hasnt
been changed since then and the transmission oil was changed about
40000 miles ago. As far as my driving habits go, I have a light foot
and never towed anything with this truck either. I use 4X4 only in
winter sometimes.
I would appreciate any advice or suggestions on this problem and what I
should do about fixing it.
