Are you kidding? Jiffy Lube is probably using the cheapest oil they can
find, making a 3000 mile interval a good idea.

It still needs to be transported to the oil recycling place (fuel used)
and reprocessed (more energy used) and whatever non-usable crud is
filtered out needs to be disposed of (hazardous waste disposal). If
you care about environmental aspects, recycling is a second choice
compared to not using unnecessarily too much of it.

Let's all sing along, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, they are each
a part of the whole idea. Use less, use things longer (until they
can not be used, not until they aren't shiny) and take what is
left over and make something new out of it.

It's all good, bro.

Assuming that it is actually doing all those things.

Do you have any evidence to the contrary?

In my experience, the dashboard "change oil NOW" display does not line
up precisely with the mileages listed in the owner's manual. Either
the programmer threw in a random offset to fudge things, or there are
more variables being considered than mere mileage.
