Default Engine Light is 'back' on.... - 03' Passat Wagon

I have a 2003 Passat Wagon.

I've had the engine light come on a few times recently. The car just had
its 40K $ervice and it was off for a few days. It came back on when we were
going on a small road trip (200miles) 1/3 of the way down I filled up with
Super Unleaded and put in a bottle of Techron. 1/2 through the trip the
Light went out.

Now a few days later, the light is back on. We will be going on a much
longer trip this weekend (over 1000 miles) and wanted to take the Passat,
though I don't think I'll have time to get the Service people to look at it
between now and then.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks,
Scott<-

stop at the next advandes auto parts or auto zone they have code
readers for free. give it a try will take a few seconds. the connector
(OBDII) will be under the steering wheel (right next to the fuses under
the dash!

good luck, let me know what the error code will be...

Thanks for the Info.

Never heard of advandes auto parts.

We have Napa, AutoZone, Kragen and something else that eludes me.

The dealer is just so hard to get to.

Thanks!

Most if not all AutoZones will take care of it for you.

That's a typo. It's really Advanced Auto Parts. Anyway, take it to ANY
facility and do what Sebastian suggests. Probably it is just a faulty
reading, but if it is not, you may get halfway through your trip and end up
with a blown engine because the engine light is indicating low oil pressure.
