RE-engine swap
The 3.8 in my mustang is pretty much shot, its still rebuildable but I don't
know if it's worth it. I was offered a good deal on a 5.0 out of a 1990 Lincoln (runs decent less than 100,000 miles) would this be a better engine, or should I just rebuild the one I have and be done with it? -- Message posted via CarKB.com http://www.carkb.com/Uwe/Forums.aspx...stang/200608/1 |

Changing from a V-6 to a V-8 isn't a simple swap. The wiring and computer will need to be replaced, as well as, springs, fuel supply etc. This is further complicated if your Mustang is a 1996 model or newer. Those cars are configured to take the 4.6L engine so to put a 5.0L block in it would require changes to the motor mounts etc. My advice is to rebuild the V-6 and if you have to have a V-8 then sell your current car and buy a GT. |
