Default Nissan truck vg30e fuel pressure regulator location?

Hi, I've checked the stupid Haynes manual with no success and checked
all over for my fuel pressure regulator on my '96 Nissan 4x4 pickup
with vg30e (3L v6) engine. Can anyone tell me where it is roughly
before I start taking things apart? My truck is getting horrible fuel
mileage (350km to the tank, should be 500km) and there is carbon
building up in the exhaust so I'm pretty sure it's running rich.
Changed the oxygen sensor which got rid of the check engine light, but
that is merely a symptom I think, not the cause. Just need to check
the fuel pressure now, but can't find the pressure regulator anywhere
near the fuel rails so I can unhook the vacuum to it.
Anyone with a Maxima with the same engine can respond too as it's
probably in the same place on that car.

Thanks, Victor

As I recall, there is only one or two vacuum lines on that engine. I
belive there is one all the way in the back down behind the engine. That
may go to the regulator. Post on alt.autos.nissan, there is a good
Nissan tech in there.

Autozone.com, 1996 Nissan Maxima (since they don't list a 1996 truck)....

"The pressure regulator is always located on the fuel return side of the
fuel injection rail and is attached to the right rear of the fuel rail assembly,
at the right rear corner of the intake manifold."

That's not the same engine. If they don't list the '96 truck, look for the
previous generation Maxima (pre-'95) or the Quest.
