They are the best wireless carrier I've had (which isn't saying much, since the others suck so much). And here's what I really like about Verizon: http://tinyurl.com/4latu Verizon: Reject directory Richmond Times-Dispatch Dec 11, 2004 Verizon Wireless, the nation's second-largest cell-phone company, is asking other wireless providers to stop pushing for a wireless directory. A national survey of wireless phone users, sponsored by a nonprofit online privacy group, has shown that only one in 10 mobile-phone users would want to be listed in a directory and only three in 10 would support creating such a directory, Verizon Wireless said. Verizon Wireless has decided not to publish a wireless directory or to make its 42 million customers' phone numbers available for a directory. Verizon bases that decision, which is being reflected in customer contracts, on privacy considerations. |

Ever consider contacting the folks that run a consumer show or segment of the news? They love these stories and they're usually good at bringing a quick easy conclusion to these things. Most of the time I find tearing a strip off the company works, but YMMV. |

People on my local newsgroup want to try these stupid oneday gas outs all the time because they think it will somehow bring down the cost of gas in our tiny little market. They think that iff everyone buys from one gas station, all the other stations will lower the price to attract customers. Either that or they think "We will buy gas from station A on Monday, station B on Tuesday, etc" They think: a) Enough people will follow that it will have a detectable change in gas sales. b) It will somehow impact the cost of gas. |
