Midengine - reversing the tranny
Does it weaken the tranny to convert it to work with a midengine?

The Porsche 914 (especially the 914-6) trans is not that weak AFAIK. ;-)

Flip Flopping the Ring gear has been done on Formula Vee racers for eones
and I've never heard of dire consequences even when we ran them on ATF.Likewise the shift linkages. Not much of a challenge to the tranny. Or is there a class that uses something other than the tiny old engines? |

The shift is easy. There are linkages made for mid engine sand rails. Just
