116i engine problem
I have a BMW 116i and it is old 1,5 years now, passed 14 000 kilometers.
From the start it has anoying grumbling sound from the engine on low RPM (till 3000) . Untill 3000 car shakes and has a sound like diesel. And the car loses power on low RPM. After 3000 it works without problems when it gets power. I know it is 1600 cc 115 HP but I think that it is weak. Dealer said 3 times that they are waiting answer from the german factory about that problem but I still didn't receive the answer. What should I do? They say that they changed some electrical cables but nothing changed with the sound of engine. On low RPM it works louder than diesel! I bought gasoline engine because I didn't want noise and it works awful on low RPM. Car spends 11 liters/100 kilometers . I am in Croatia, Europe. Owners of 116i, does anyone has problem like this? What do you think that is the problem? Thank you Antonio email: |

You want old, I drive a 1990 E34 535i, 5spd with 108,000 miles. Do you have another dealer near you? If so, try them. |

However, the OP called his car "old" and its *only* 1,5 years old with 14,000 kilometer! Vey! |

I'd say it is just a language thing and 'old' and '1,5 years' would be transposed for English as opposed to his native language. Only wish I had as good a command of any foreign language. ;-) -- *Why is the word abbreviation so long? * Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |
