Sloth in parking lot
I was walking at a local shopping mall today when there was some Sloth
activity. A Honda Civic driver, with its high-beams on and its left hand holding a phone, was parked in a No Parking zone in front of a store. There were parking spaces less than 20 footsteps away, but the Sloth blocked traffic as a passenger exited the vehicle and talked to the driver through the window. A driver behind the Sloth waited for oncoming traffic to pass and then moved to pass the Sloth. The Sloth drove into him as he started passing, and he braked and honked at the Sloth. The Sloth honked too, and then blocked the other side of the street. As the passing driver swerved around on the right, the Sloth drove on the wrong side of the street and turned into an aisle of parking spaces, still busy with the phone. There was also a Sloth driver near the mall that almost caused a collision with me and a Civic driver behind me. The Sloth moved into a right-turn lane and turned on its right-turn signal. As the Sloth was slowing down to turn, I began passing it without accelerating. As I was passing, the Sloth sped up and went left and straight, forcing me to brake. I honked, but the Sloth also honked. Why did the Sloth honk when there was nothing in front of it? There was no traffic behind the Civic, so why didn't the Sloth wait for the cars to pass instead of almost causing a collision and screaming "MFFY"? |

Wasn't it a crosswalk? It happened again yesterday. I was about to cross the street in the marked crosswalk when a minivan driver caused me to wait. This Sloth had its chin on the top of the steering wheel and was driving very slowly through the 30 zone at about 10, which is probably because it was idling in "D". |

I think the best thing you can do for people like that is a good sound fender slap. Seriously. Wakes them up and next time around they are more likely to be watching for pedestrians. brink |
