Default Windshield wipers won't stop

On a 98 SL-2 the windshield wipers have a tendency to start on their
own when starting the car in cold weather and refuse to stop.

Any ideas? A google search didn't turn up anything good.

Thanks,
Jim

Not an expert here, but I'd look for a defective (cracked or damaged) wiper
switch control ...
