NO RLC is going to stop them;the driver would not know he's been cited for
weeks.

But I have seen an officer pull over a dump truck that ran a RL.
Stopped him right away, and the RLrunner received instant punishment.

Do you know you just ran a red light?

Yup, I was going the speed limit and the truck would have been hard to stop
safely, so I really had no choice.

Ok, just making sure. Put your seatbelt on and drive safely.

It was WAY after the light turned red,and the dump truck almost struck
another vehicle.I doubt he got away with a warning.

It's guaranteed he got away with a warning. You didn't mention he was
speeding, and that's all the cops care about. So no ticket, no fine,
nothing. -Dave

No points on RLCs.

I'd prefer a police officer write them, like they are supposed to do.
They just have a lot of excuses why they can't write them.

Not all RLC systems assign point to the driver;some treat them as parking
tickets;a fine, zero points. If the auto's owner does not pay them, then they
can't renew their auto registration.

Not for a few weeks. But after that, he would know. He might also have
an additional ticket or two in the works. When he got those, he WOULD
get the message.

'Course, he could get the message by reading the SL sign and following
it in the first place, but then, some people learn so slowly, if at all.
