NO RLC is going to stop them;the driver would not know he's been cited for weeks. But I have seen an officer pull over a dump truck that ran a RL. Stopped him right away, and the RLrunner received instant punishment. -- Jim Yanik jyanik at kua.net |

Yup, I was going the speed limit and the truck would have been hard to stop safely, so I really had no choice. Ok, just making sure. Put your seatbelt on and drive safely. |

I'd prefer a police officer write them, like they are supposed to do. They just have a lot of excuses why they can't write them. > > At least if he gets cited he may acquire enough points to lose his > license, which is the best thing for everyone. Not all RLC systems assign point to the driver;some treat them as parking tickets;a fine, zero points. If the auto's owner does not pay them, then they can't renew their auto registration. -- Jim Yanik jyanik at kua.net |

I didn't know... AFAIK,-some- RLC systems assign points, but then you need some method of clearly identifying who was driving,or you get into the messy situation of charging the owner unless they give up the true driver. And then there are states with only rear license plates,no photo of the driver. I'm not sure whether it's more common to assign points or to not assign them, but I believe it's the latter.(for RLC tickets) -- Jim Yanik jyanik at kua.net |

But after that, he would know. He might also have an additional ticket or two in the works. When he got those, he WOULD get the message. 'Course, he could get the message by reading the SL sign and following it in the first place, but then, some people learn so slowly, if at all. |
