Tamper proof mounting screws
I want to change out the turn signal swtich on my 1993 Voyager.
Alldata says that I need to remove the *tamper proof" mounting screws. I would imagine that this means a special tool to remove the screws. Where can I find this tool, and what would I to ask for? Thanks, KM |

Assuming you are working around the ignition switch...it's the same thing I
worked with when I replaced my ignition switch and key lock cylinder. They are probably standard torx bits (T-10...or maybe T-8 or T-15 or so)...but tamper proof ones have a pin sticking up in the middle of the "hole" in the head of the screw. You have to have a tamper proof bit that has a matching hole. Not too expensive or hard to find, but you'll probably have to look just a bit. Fortunately in my case, I had picked up a set of just such bits some time before I had to do my repairs... They look like this: http://technicaltoolbestprice.co.cc/...0_Pi ece.html Wesley "KirkM" > wrote in message ... > I want to change out the turn signal swtich on my 1993 Voyager. > Alldata says that I need to remove the *tamper proof" mounting screws. > > I would imagine that this means a special tool to remove the screws. > Where can I find this tool, and what would I to ask for? > > Thanks, > > KM |

Harbor Freight has a set of lots of oddball "security" bits, including this one, for little money. I haven't used mine enough yet to learn whether it's "inexpensive" or "cheap", but being HF I think I can guess which it will be. -- As we enjoy great advantages from the inventions of others, we should be glad of an opportunity to serve others by any invention of ours; and this we should do freely and generously. I am going off from what Alldata says. It just mentioned that the turn signal switch is held in place with tamper proof screws. KM |
