Default I was obeying the speed limit on ym way home tonight...

and the nearly the entire time I had high beams flashed at me, horns honked
at me, and disgruntled motorists passing me illegally. Interestingly enough
the one high-beaming me to no end was in a passing zone. He could have
legaly and easily passed me, as there wa sno traffic coming the other way.

Anyhow, I'm just obeying the law and doing what I should be doing. It would
be nice though if instead of these people taking their anger out on me with
rude gestures and actions they would write and call their representatives
and get thigns changed. Oh well though, so be it. I'll just keep on obeying
the law and maybe people will get a clue eventually and try to get things
changed.

I drove the speed limit last year. Driving in the right lane on a weekend
I received no harassment, but I would have ended up miles out of my way if
I hadn't finally broken the speed limit so I could safely get over to a
left exit. The State Police said I did the right thing by speeding and
they weren't going to ticket anybody going only 10-15 MPH over the speed
limit. (See the "Roads Scholar" column in the May 10, 2004 Boston Herald.)

I have terminated my obedence to IL's 45mph construction zone speed limit
for the same reason. My new rule is not to pass anyone and try not to be
passed as a secondary rule.

Or just the chaos caused by the flow distruption of someone trying to
avoid being ticketed. I decided my car and my life were worth more than
the $350 ticket.

So Laura is clueless and unobservant apparently - why am I not surprised?

"> Have you ever driven a car faster than the legal speed limit?

Yes, but never deliberately. In fact i got a speeding ticket about 5
years ago for doing 41 in a 25. I just about kicked the cops teeth in
cause i was sure he was lying. No way the SL on this wide open
stretch could be 25, i thought."

You're wrong here, Scott. Sloth drivers don't cause accidents; poor drivers
cause accidents. You proved it yourself in your own post, outlining the
ways the poor driver augured in.

There's a safe way to pass sloths, and there's the ways you mentioned above.

I just *love* the new GM commercials with all the kids bragging about
how much safer their SUVs handle now that GM has added their new system
to it. I look at the kids and laugh, as they look like prime candidates
for the Darwin Experience. Even funnier has got to be the dumb-ass
parents that buy into this crap.
