Gauge color question

I've been looking at listings on line and in the paper; I may be close
to actual shopping for a recent/low mileage (NB) Miata; just doubt a
new one would be in the budget. I am partial to the white gauge faces;
what year did that begin? I've seen a 2000 that still had black; 2001?
Did some editions of 2000 have them? Yeah, I've seen aftermarket kits
to put those kinds of gauge faces on virtually any car, but I wouldn't
be buying a new (to me, anyway) car and immediately start ripping into
it! I've had enough of that with my 15 year old car as it is *
