transaxle installation
just installed a rebuilt transmission. Torque converter was recessed in
converter housing about 3/16" per requirements. Bolting converter to the drive plate required closing about an 1/8" gap. Rotate engine and drive plate scrapes against cover plate. Cover plate doesn't look bent! Did have crankshaft out for miking and new bearings, but do not see how this could create the problem. Have shop manual, and drive plate is installed correctly. Question: Was it okay for Torque converter to be moved about 1/8"? Or must it be relatively tight in the position when lifted into place? |
