156 gear knob replacement
Just bought a 2001 Y reg 2.0 156 that some boy racer has put a
well-stupid gear knob in. How do I go about removing this, and replacing it with either a "classy" version, or possibly one of Alfa's own? Trawled through this site and the replacing options range from "just pull it off", through "twist and turn" right up to "you need to hacksaw it off". Which is right please, since at present I don't see any way of removing the ghastly devils-head that glows in the dark currently sitting in my car. Thanks all. |

The original one can only be taken off using quite a bit of violence and
destroying it! Most after market ones (official Alfa as well as imitation) have - a ring shaped nut at the bottom which more or less tightens the knob to the shaft or - one or more allen screws in the bottom circumference. Either one: just slacken the nut/screw(s) and it is loose. -- Ciao from Holland AlfistaGJ (Gert-Jan) Alfa red 156 SW 1.8 Madeno tuned (2000) Golden Montreal (1973/4) "fmt" > schreef in bericht ... > Just bought a 2001 Y reg 2.0 156 that some boy racer has put a > well-stupid gear knob in. > How do I go about removing this, and replacing it with either a > "classy" version, or possibly one of Alfa's own? > Trawled through this site and the replacing options range from "just > pull it off", through "twist and turn" right up to "you need to > hacksaw it off". > Which is right please, since at present I don't see any way of > removing the ghastly devils-head that glows in the dark currently > sitting in my car. > Thanks all. |
