There's some shockingly bad driving in that vid *including your own* !

I thought you were driving pretty MFFY; cutting off opposing drivers
when you made the L onto the ramp; swerving in and out of traffic;
changing lanes without allowing the drivers you cut in front of an
assured clear distance ahead and without sufficient time for your
signal to blink at least 3 times; taking two lanes during a lane change
instead of one at a time, and tailgating.

I thought it was obvious you have pretty good control of your vehicle
but I think you demonstrated poor judgment in assuming all other
drivers were being as attentive, and were as skilled, as yourself. I'd
have to forward the premise that, based on your own personal knowledge
of LA drivers, that is a not a very smart way to operate a vehicle.

OTOH, your style of driving made for a more interesting video than
would mine. Less than rapid acceration, waiting for the unpossessed
ROW to be yielded, moving onto the highway and just going with the flow
would be pretty boring, but I think it's a more safe and thus better
way to drive.

That's a pretty respectable summary.

Let's say, if you drove like that in the UK, you'd be nicked. Indeed, it's easy
to see from what I've seen of US driving why your road death rate is 3 times
ours.

As I have no video camera ( no need for one really ) I regret I can't oblige but
I expect you'd like to see some of my driving on a twisty country UK A-road
actually. Rather more interesting than multi-lane highways.

Not having a video camera would be a serious problem.

I missed your earlier response.

I have now replied.

It's not a matter of opinion. It's a matter of law. 'Undertaking' for starters.
You undertook that stupid truck that was hogging the middle lane ( MLB ) when
you should have overtaken it. That'll get you nicked straight off over here if
only for careless driving. It's plain bad road sense in any case, whatever your
laws say. In fact your entire lane discipline over there is total crap ! I'd
have to criticise weaving too.

Whilst I'm sure you're not a bad driver per se, I can easily see why you have 3
times the road deaths we do.

I think you'd like BTCC racing btw.

None of your silly ovals, watching cars go round and round. Real race tracks !
And it's *very* competitive. Our accidents aren't quite as 'spectacular' as your
NASCAR ones may be but hugely more fun.

Your comment is quite amusing: the NASCAR race this last weekend was at
Watkins Glen on a road course.

Not a bad track but sadly too rare on the circuit.
