Default Re-Installing N2003?

Good suggestion, I do not believe I had 3d sound checked by default, I will
check it when I get back in town on Thursday.

Thanks,

Don

Default Re-Installing N2003?

I never tried the onboard sound, since i have the audigy 2 ZS, have overall
been very pleased with it's performance, and I always heard onboard sound
eats more cpu cycles.

Default Re-Installing N2003?

Ok, got back in town, and made some changes.

1: Installed the amd and winxp dual core patches/udpates Larry recommended.
Also noticed, there was a new dual core optimization update there as well,
not sure what it does, but went ahead
and installed it as well.

2: Checked 3d audio Bonz recommended.

Just went and ran a 20% dega, ran great , performance is excellent, and no
lock ups.

Thanks guys!

The funny thing Don, One of the first things I always used to recomend
with ANY Papyrus product that was having problems was to UN-check the 3d
sound option. LOL

Default Re-Installing N2003?

I had exactly the same problem with the sound in N2003 after installing on
my new system - Athlon X2 4800+, ASUS A8N-SLI, 2GB RAM, Leadtek Nvidia
7800GTX, Audigy 2ZS. The only way I could get it to run properly was by
disabling the Audigy, and using the onboard sound.
Maybe I should try the patches!!

Default Re-Installing N2003?

Well, ymmv, but for the most part it has made mine better, although I have
since had a couple of lockups. Usually, if I pause the sim during a race,
upon unpausing, it crashes. It also has crashed upon exiting the game a
couple of times. Not sure if it is related to the Audigy or not...

The more I hear your symptoms, the more it sounds like a sound issue. You
might try uninstalling the Audigy in Device Manager and letting it
reinstall. You might even try the onboard sound just for grins and see if
there is any difference.

Thanks Ed, I may do just that when I get back.
I have been looking for a reason to upgrade to the newer X-FI, and may go
ahead and get one on order in the near future.

Ok, am back in town now.

I believe, I have a couple of issues here.
First, the overall stability of my system. I have been getting, on occasion,
some lockups. Usually, while perusing newsgroups or the web.
The frequency, seems to have been reduced, since installing the amd and Ms
dual core patches.
However, I have had a sneaky suspicion, part of that problem might be from
the power supply. My new mb, has a 24 pin connector, and my power supply,
only had 20 pin. ( not the additional 4 pin that goes beside the 20). While
the mb manual, states that a 20 will work properly if oriented correctly, I
will feel better having the full 24 pins in, so I ordered and have received
a new Antec 550 watt power supply, with the 20 + 4 pin connector. Have not
installed yet, but will sometime today.

Secondly, I believe like Ed mentions, I have a sound issue as well. I have
been wanting to upgrage to the Creative X-Fi, just needed an excuse, and I
guess this is a good enough one. Hopefully, it will help in that area.
Newegg had the Creative X-Fi Xtreme music for about 85 bucks, so I went
ahead and ordered one today, should be here next week.

I will let y'all know, if these help my issues.

Thanks to all for all the great feedback,

Don
