Default Used or New -rear control arms? 1987 Accord.

I need the (rear) upper control arms for both sides of our 1987 Accord.
Budget is limited, and I need some opinions. I have someone to install
them.

Price Comparison:
New = 2 x 120 = 240
Used = 2 x 50 = 100

What is wrong with the old ones? If the bushings are worn,
I'd buy new ones, since old ones are likely going to exhibit
the same problem.

New OEM ones may be had for $76*2 + shipping via
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...KLE-BRAKE+DRUM

The drivers side control arm "cracked" and the car is not driveable.
and the other side is ready to go...according to the mechanic.

I searched on that site and couldn't find the upper arm.

If my last message was confusing I apologize.
I see the 76 dollar upper control arms! Thanks!

Just get used ones from the wreckers. A LOT cheaper.

Huh. I looked at a lot of control arm assemblies on the rear
of c. 1990 Hondas this past summer. They are not in big
demand. The biggest problem with them is that the bushings
eventually do wear. A lot of these little upper arms are
such that one can replace these bushings. Interestingly,
that's not necessarily much cheaper than buying the whole
upper arm.

Regardless, the site I linked earlier indicates that the
bushings are not readily available, or not available at all,
for your Accord.

You could go to a junkyard and I quite possibly get these
little arms for a song. I bought some for my 91 Civic and
paid something like $25 for two. Went to another yard a
month later and found them for even less. Kinda depends on
how much longer you want to keep the car, IMO.

ben,

Buy this set on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/86-87...spagenameZWDVW

They are new aftermarket for $52 shipped.

They are fine. I used one on my '88 Accord.

buy new. used ones will be just like the ones you have now, or will be
very shortly. even $240 is /way/ cheaper than payments on a new car.

the only thing is they don't say "upper" anywhere on this listing.
