Default OT: inkjet printers & extended warranties

I was a big fan of Epson inkjet printers but did it on the cheap and got the
ink cartridges refilled at Cartridge World. Unlike some printers that have
the print head as part of the cartridge, Epson burries the head inside the
printer and it is not serviceable. I got clogs in the head and had to toss
two printers. Using third party inks voids warranty so not much use in
getting extended warranties.

When we got a new computer last year, it came packaged with a Canon IP1700
printer. Worked very well but just went belly up after 8 months for nothing
related to ink. We replaced it with a Canon IP3500 which I have to say is
great. The cartridges are ink only and the print head IS replaceable. On top
of that, it is vista compatible and does multiple pages per sheet, page
scaling, book printing and painless duplex printing (you have to flip the
sheets but it has two paper feeds and walks you through how to reload the
partially printed sheets). Best part is it was $59 at Staples and had a $20
mail-in rebate.

Default '02 L200 just laid down on the highway UPDATE

GEEZ!! You are one lucky guy. Go buy a lottery ticket on the way home...

Don't you just hate it when a valve keeper lets go and the entire valve gets
sucked into the cylinder?

Default '02 L200 just laid down on the highway UPDATE

they had called me on saturday to tell me it wouldn't be ready cause
'they're having compression issues'. I wonder if the head came with a
broken spring they overlooked or something?

and don't worry, i always buy powerball tickets. I'm not one of those who
couldn't do with just 10 million and wait until it's much higher to buy. I
support the lottery faithfully for $2 each and every wednesday and saturday.

I always go with HP. Great quality, good ink, good price and excellent Linux
support.

Canon always forces you to downgrade to Wintendo.

Operating Systems are like Religions. Everybody has a favorite one and are
rarely swayed...
Now pardon me while I toggle the bootstrap into the switch register...

Heh - actually I was a Wintendo evangelist back in the mid-'90s. I
converted dozens of firms from NetWare to NT 4. However, I've "seen the
light" and haven't looked back.

Believe it or not - on my desk at work I have four workstations - openSUSE
10.3, openSUSE 10.2 (this laptop), Vista Business and XP Pro.

I speak less from emotion (as in religion) and more from raw experience.

Now, don't start me talking about car companies.... :P
