Maaco Paint
I have a 1998 white Chevrolet S-10, and recently took my car to Maaco
to get bodywork done. A few spots have to be repainted. Maaco told me that it would be cheaper for them to repaint my whole car then to just paint the bodywork. They said it would cost them more time and money to match up the paint on the damaged areas with my factory paint. Maaco said that it would be cheaper by $350 to just have Maaco repaint my whole truck. Should I save $300 and just have Maaco paint my whole truck? Would I get an inferior paint job compared to the 6 year old factory paint already on the truck? |

Your paint has faded for 5-6 years so a repaint with the original paint code may not match that well. Plus there is labor involved in feathering the edges of the new into the old. > Should I save $300 and just have Maaco paint my whole truck? Would I > get an inferior paint job compared to the 6 year old factory paint > already on the truck? Have seen very good MAACO paint jobs on a friend's car. Your local shop may or may not be this good. And they have several paint job grades available. Some will even work with you and let you save bucks by doing prep work yourself. Before you decide, take the truck to a traditional body shop and get non-insurance estimates. May also be worth while dropping by your dealer and ask them which body shops they would recommend, positive and negative. |
