All I see is the one side of the story. I did notice that the letter
to Ms. Valentine said "..replace the top cover". It didn't say,
"replace it if you won't charge me for it", it just said replace it.
I'm at a loss as to why the owner would care about a scratch in an
area that won't be seen when the unit is in use. The whole thing
sounds pretty odd to me and I have to wonder just who was rude first.
Maybe this "long time owner" doesn't know how to turn on the advanced
logic setting on the new one.

"What, sir, is the use of militia? It is to prevent the
establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty. . .
Whenever Government means to invade the rights and liberties of
the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order
to raise a standing army upon its ruins." -- Debate, U.S. House
of Representatives, August 17, 1789
