Caltrans Maaintenance Survey

What I MOST wish they'd do is fix the goddam bumps on the freeways where one surface joins another. The nasty CRASH as you move onto the bridge, for instance, is annoying. Maybe people driving cars with nice soft suspensions don't notice stuff like that, but I do. I'm also ****ed because they've closed the road up to Big Bear from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm for the last two weeks to remove dead trees. They didn't notice them before the ski season started? -- Cheers, Bev <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> Some mornings it's just not worth chewing through the straps. |

You can't take the survey in English, you can't read the signs on the road, and you should be driving. Those decisions pass through many hands before anything gets built, but Caltrans has to OK all of them. And Caltrans is usually responsible for the fact that the public-comment process is only announced locally, so that the local NIMBYs and eco-nuts are always able to outshout the (really much greater number of) drivers who need a project to be built. |

They've got 30 years of catching up to do. It will be interesting to see how many people regard landscaping as Caltrans' most important function. I find it disgusting that it was even on the list when there are so many REAL things that need doing. That being said, I recently noticed the beautiful forest they created ~30 years ago on the banks of the 210 through Pasadena. There are even some Moreton Bay fig trees perhaps 6 feet in diameter, which is extraordinarily cool. The bad part is that the freeway is raised through here, and the only people who can appreciate the plantings are the residents of the frontage roads. They'd be a perfect place for kids to play if they weren't fenced off with 6' chain link. -- Cheers, Bev ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++ To define recursion, we must first define recursion. |
