Default neon cutting out under hard acceleration

My friend has a neon with DOHC and also a minivan, 2.5 turbo. They both cut
out under hard acceleration. They can be driven at highway speeds, but if
you feed lots of fuel they will cut out for a few seconds and then start
pulling again. They will continue to do this as long as your foot is to the
floor. Neither shows any codes. Any ideas? any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Dale

We live in central Saskatchewan and he has tried different brands with no
noticeable difference. He's also changed fuel filters and plugs. Still
puzzeled in Saskatchewan. thanks for any input. Dale

Well, don't know how old the vehicles are but perhaps it's timing.
Could be running rich or lean. Hard to tell.

Thanks for the input guys. Problem solved. Plugs and wires. I'd never heard
of plugs and wires making the engine cut out, thought that would cause a
miss fire and a check engine light, but no engine light and engine would
completely cut out. go figure. anyway, thanks. Dale
