Goddam criminal coddling. This is worse than child-molesting, but
these monsters get off with fines.

Driver sentenced for Jefferson Avenue crash

Kelly Nankervis, Midland Daily News 08/15/2006

Kathleen May Fournier, 80, Midland, was charged in June with
failing to stop for a school crossing guard after the March 8 accident
at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Chapel Lane.

Midland County Circuit Judge Robert L. Donoghue sentenced Fournier
to $500 fines and costs, two years probation during which she is to
complete 10 hours of community service work each week, and 45 days of
house arrest instead of jail during which she is to have no visitors
with the exception of grocery delivery or trash removal. She is not to
own or drive any motor vehicles, and Donoghue also provided for
restitution but did not set an amount.

(snip)

Those two girls, Nicole Ryan Schram and Eva Jean Tulchinsky, both
13 at the time of the crash, suffered serious injuries. Schram was
hospitalized at the University of Michigan hospital for critical
injuries, while Tulchinsky was treated at MidMichigan Medical Center.
They were walking across Jefferson with a crossing guard, who was
wearing a bright traffic coat and carrying a handheld stop sign at the
time.

According to a Midland Police report, Fournier was not speeding,
her car was in good working condition, and she was not violating any
driver license or medical restrictions.

Old bat DID get house arrest, no visitors. Effectively imprisonment
without the actual jail facility. License and car ownership banned.
That driver's career is OVER. What do you expect, EXECUTION?

How do you know the difference between house arrest and jail time?
Have you experienced both? Hmmm??? Or are you currently under house
arrest with access to the Web (which would explain the ability to spend
THAT much time in the Google newsgroups)?

HAHAHA. You're just making yourself look more ridiculous. Only an
idiot like you would persist in saying house arrest and jail are the
same. HAHAHA

I was on bedrest for 6 weeks at the beginning of my pregnancy. I only
got up to go to the bathroom.

It sucked, but I did have my own bed, my own TV, my own stuff...it was
almost like... home...*rolls eyes*

OK, say they locked her up in the Big House.....

We (Us, You, Me, Everyone) would then have to feed her, clothe her, and pay
her medical bills. She is not allowed to drive any more, so she is unlikely
to be a repeat offender. The Judge fined her and plans to extort reparations
from her. Isn't all that better than putting her on the public dole?

Well - that can be said about every criminal. But we still have over 2
million americans in prison and you say "tough **** - do the crime do
the time."

And BTW - she is very likely to be a repeat offender. Most people who
lose their license keep right on driving. Stop coddling the killers and
maimers on our highways.

How many repetitions can you expect from an 80-year-old bat? I think
we need a system of random skills testing of drivers (in most areas you
only need a 70% score for driving skills ONCE and you can be licensed
for life provided the eyes and $$$ hold up). Best way: have patrol
officers go undercover and randomly hitchhike. Then flash the badge
when a violation occurs. Think that will fly?
