Default S-15 / S-10 Engine swap question

I have a 1988 GMC S-15 pickup 4cyl, 5 speed. pretty low miles, but the
passenger side is smashed in. Aside from the collision damage on that side
the truck runs great and I hate to get rid of it but it can't be driven like
it is. I just put in brakes, clutch, battery, water pump and some other
stuff right before it got smashed. I was thinking about trying to find a
similar truck that needs a motor or transmission and put my good driveline
parts in it and get back on the road. Does anyone know what range of model
years will work for what I want to do? S-10 chevy or S-15 GMC will work.
S-10 blazer would probably work too but not enough power with a 4cyl.

I could just sell it for parts but I would probably get next to nothing for
it

Any other thoughts?

Located in San Diego CA

THANKS

82-93 for Pickups
83-94 for S Blazers

only bad part is your in cali and the drivetrain will have to
be the same or older than the year you installing into along
with making sure all the emissions equipment is there and
functional.
best bet would be to look for a good bodied pickup with
bad drivetrain. i'm also in cali and have seen a few going
for $100-$300.
