Default sudden drop in gas mileage in 2000 BMW 323i

Hi,

For the past 1 month, I am noticing that the mileage is dropped at
least by 15-20%. Could anyone suggest what could be the problem for
that?

Thanks,
nkveni

Thanks for the reply.

Did not do any tuneup. But it has been 14-15 months without an oil
service. The last oil service was with Inspection1 14 months ago and
then got break fluid and coolant service around 6 months ago.

Can the fact that it has been a while without oil service result in
less gas mileage?

Thanks and best regards,
nkveni

Valves aren't adjustable. If it's a sudden drop then suspect
something like the O2 sensor.

Of course, if it's just turned cold where you are you'll get a drop in
mileage due to the colder starts.

Are you by any chance in that other hemisphere were it's warming up instead
of cooling down now? Did you start using the A/C a lot lately?

My guess is your getting your first taste of winter fuel Your miles per
gallon will suffer while they sell the oxygenated fuel. Just a
thought...and your oil could also be turning to sludge. Get it out now!!!
