Believe me Bill that's first place I went to. Problem is, XJ's depart
the bone yard just as fast as they come in. There's a nice bone
yard down in Hazelton, PA, but that's a 5 hour drive for me, and
not worth it for just a wiper motor...yet anyways!

Thanks Bill. Going to try Dougs suggestion of
taking it apart and see if contacts are dirty,
before heading down to AA. Although one
of the guys at AA has a set of stock rims
he wants to sell. Decisions, decisions! LOL

Do you use electrical contact cleaner and dielectric grease on the
connectors and a little lubricant on the rubber bushing?

All the ones I have ever seen are seized up where the shaft goes through
the door. The motors are basically fine, but when they shaft seizes it
can let the smoke out of them or just arc the brushes that a clean can
fix.

I have never replaced one because 'all' the ones I have been able to
find at the wreckers are seized in the same way. For inspection
purposes, I remove the thing and put a nice pretty grommet in the hole
and have never been asked about it....

On the ones that don't need inspection I just leave the squirter hose
sticking out the hole. It is a great tailgater removal tool. ;-)

But yes, I have several tubes of dielectric grease kicking around and
cleaner that I use everywhere.
