Default 96 caravan 3.3 engine noise.

Mine has a vapor canister purge valve that taps like that. Look for a
plastic piece that has 2 sphere shapes built in to it on the passenger side
under the hood. It'll have a plug-in and vacuum lines running to it.

You can grab ahold of it and feel it clicking away... It's probably not your
engine at all.

Hmmm, not deep enough for a rod knock and not ticky enough for a lifter,, I
would suspect a crack timing gear,, but it's just a guess.

I missed the original description of the noise, but when the rocker
shaft tower on a 3.3L cracks, the first symptom is a light clicking.
The engine doesn't run badly until the rocker shaft itself fatigues and
bends, causing the valves to not open properly.
