Techron Concentrate - maybe. I wouldn't bother with the other
"Techron" products, such as "Pro-Gard".

May try some TB or Carb cleaner if you have access or remove and clean. I
don't think techron would help to remove the carbon buildup, might help a
clogged injector.

No, the correct way to fix a carboned-up EGR valve and EGR system passages
is by disassembly and manual cleaning, replacing any parts that cannot be
manually cleaned.

Chevron Techron concentrate (not the less expensive stuff that "contains
Techron") and BG 44K are excellent combustion chamber cleaners, but they
will not do anything for your clogged EGR system.

Dan, That was my thinking too, but some mechanic that my brother knows
suggested it. My response was the same as your, ie, remove the EGR
valve and clean it (ore replace it).

As far as combustion chamber cleaners go, I would think that you could
open a can of worms by cleaning it. If something got dislodged, could
it cause damage?

Some mechanic that your brother knows is wrong.

Yup.

No, not really.
