Easy, buy a smaller car, with a smaller engine possibly diesel, and a proper manual gearbox, and drive it economically. Saves you more than 30% straight away. |

At least until you consider the cost of fuel for the engine. -- There's no such thing as a free lunch, but certain accounting practices can result in a fully-depreciated one. |

The difference between refueling once a month versus twice to three times a month is between $40 and $80. The difference in my food bill isn't more than $30 to $40 in my estimation. |

The calories taken to run a bike aren't free; you've got to get them from somewhere. >The difference between refueling once a month versus twice to three times a >month is between $40 and $80. According to the CDC, bicycling at less than 10mph burns 290 calories for a 154 pound person. Of course, how much that costs depends a lot on what fuel you use; beef costs more than bread. http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/spot...hour_table.htm If you can't stand biking that slow, it gets worse, of course. -- There's no such thing as a free lunch, but certain accounting practices can result in a fully-depreciated one. |
