Air Bag Code 19 Flashing on cluster
>From the Ford Service Manual: "When the ignition is cycled (turned off and then on), the air bag indicator will remain lit for six seconds and then go out. If an SRS fault exists, the air bag indicator will then flash the two-digit LFC. The air bag indicator will flash the LFC five times, then it will remain illuminated for the rest of the key cycle. The RCM will also communicate the current and historical DTCs through the data link connector (DLC), using the scan tool. If the air bag indicator does not function, and the system detects a fault condition, the RCM will signal the instrument cluster to activate an audible chime. The chime is a series of five sets of five tone bursts. If the chime is heard, the SRS and the air bag indicator require repair." "LFCs are prioritized. If two or more faults occur at the same time, the fault having the highest priority will be displayed first. After that fault has been corrected, the next highest priority fault will be displayed." Here is a combined list of codes (some are duplicates) - DTC Description 12 Low Battery Voltage 13 Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Ground 14 Front Air Bag Sensor and Bracket Circuit Shorted to Ground 15 Driver Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Ground 15 Driver Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Battery or Ignition 16 Passenger Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Ground 16 Passenger Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Battery or Ignition 19 Crash Data Memory Full 21 Bracket Ground Resistance High 21 Rear Air Bag Sensor and Bracket Not Mounted to Vehicle Properly 22 Rear Air Bag Sensor and Bracket Output Circuit Shorted to Battery Voltage 23 Rear Air Bag Sensor and Bracket Circuit Input Feed/Return Circuit Open 24 Rear Air Bag Sensor and Bracket Output Feed/Return Circuit Open 24 RCM is Faulted 25 Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) Switch Fault 27 Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) Warning Lamp Inoperative 27 Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) Warning Lamp Short to Battery 29 Incorrect Vehicle Identification Code 32 Driver Air Bag Circuit Resistance High 33 Passenger Air Bag Circuit Resistance High 34 Driver Air Bag Circuit Resistance Low 35 Passenger Air Bag Circuit Resistance Low 41 RH Front Air Bag Sensor and Bracket Feed/Return Circuit Open 42 LH Front Air Bag Sensor and Bracket Feed/Return Circuit Open 44 RH Front Air Bag Sensor and Bracket Not Mounted to Vehicle Properly 45 LH Front Air Bag Sensor and Bracket Not Mounted to Vehicle Properly 51 Air Bag Diagnostic Monitor Internal Thermal Fuse - Fuse Blown Due to Intermittent Short to Ground 52 Backup Power Supply - Voltage Boost Fault 53 Front Air Bag Sensor and Bracket Circuits Resistance to Ground or Air Bag Diagnostic Monitor Fault - Rapid Continuous Flashing of Air Bag Indicator (No Fault Code) All Primary Air Bag Sensors Disconnected Working on air bags is hazardous. Special tools are required in most cases. This should be left to a professional. You should also check your warranty. The restraint warranty might be different than the general warranty. I don't have a copy of the 2002 Warranty, but for 2001 the following applied: "Safety Restraint Coverage "Under your New Vehicle Limited Warranty, Safety Restraint Coverage begins at the warranty start date and lasts for five years or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first. During this coverage period, Ford Motor Company or Ford Motor Vehicle Assurance Company warrants your vehicle's safety belts and air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) against defects in factory-supplied materials or workmanship."
