Default Do expensive cars inspire road rage?

I've driven junkers all my life and seldom have problems with rude
drivers but i was reading a book by a guy who used to be poor and drove
what he called a clunker and then got rich and started driving a jag
and all of a sudden, other drivers were cutting him off and racing
around him. Are people really that crazy??? I can see hating SUV
owners since they drive troop-killer vehicles, but who cares if the car
is merely expensive.?

I think once he bought something he was proud of, he realized how
little respect other drivers demonstrated for each other.

Actually, the people to hate are those inept sluggards who's lack of
situational awareness cause needless killing and maiming on the
highway, as well as needless idling at traffic signals. Fortunately
those dullards have an inate ability to do themselves and their
offspring in, as demonstrated by that brilliant dimocrat in Florida,
Shamika (or whatever her name is).

Hope you all keep up the fine work!!

Hmmm ... maybe your friends driving habits changed after
he got the 'status' cars ? From humble prole to arrogant
pig ? He might not even have noticed the change ...

I know that putting meek women behind the wheel of a
monster SUV can change 'em considerably - for the
worse. There's a sense of *power* that comes from a
huge vehicle - and elitist arrogance from hyper-expensive
vehicles.

The same is true of men, too.

Look at what happens when guys buy those 5 ton pick up trucks, gas
hoggers and road menaces.

So, maybe it's putting meek people behind the wheel of a big car - I
think it's their anger that drives them, anyway, not necessairly the
power.

But I guess if you've spent your life in the background, just another
prole, the power can be intoxicating.

So you maybe right.

I don't get it... people don't seem to even notice what kind of car you
drive anymore, at least around here. I've driven down a busy highway in
a shiny black '55 Stude coupe (one of the most beautiful cars ever made)
and nobody even looks at me. So I don't see how merely driving a new
Jag would change the attitudes of others toward you... they probably
don't give a crap. I feel sorry for anyone who spends lots of $$$ on a
car just so that they can get attention from others... but then again,
they're good people to buy used cars from

Of course, when people used to actually notice old cars, that could be
bad too - they'd be so busy staring at your car that they'd steer into
you...

No question about that. Weaklings of both sexes love big vehicles. Gun
owners are the same way.

People who are even more nuts than you, if that's possible.

There is a lot of resentment against people who earn a certain amount
of money.

That's a shame, because not ALL wealthy people are arrogant assholes,
like the Bush family.

Some people work VERY VERY hard for that Mercedes or BMW, and they
deserve it.

It's a case of resentment, I suppose.

Just like some men, and women, resent those who are intellectually
superior.<martin>

it's just the way it is --

The torqueless wonder car with it's faded paint and touch of visible rust
wasn't enough to deter people. Had some guy in a brand new audi want to
force his way in front of me by threat of low speed collision...
