Default Gas cap lever failed

Hey all,

I have a 2004 Suzuki Forenza (50k Miles) and it's been cold, real
cold. I tried to get fuel yesterday (-10f) and the little lever by
the drivers seat to pop the gas cap cover didn't work. I thought it
might be frozen so I pried gently on it while another patron pulled
the lever. No luck. I let the car sit in the garage last night which
is roughly 50 degrees f, came out this morning and the cover still
won't release. I took a hair dryer and blasted the cover on hi for 10
minutes and it still won't release. Car is down to almost 1/8 tank
and I need to get fuel in it. The lever does feel like it's moving
something but the cover never pops open.

Any suggestions?

TIA

Is there a backup pull-cord somewhere in the back? Check your owner's
manual, you may have to remove an access panel to get to it.
