Teflon Wipers
The windshield wiper blades are a particularly wretched annoyance on my
'96SL2. The last time I changed them I used refills from Canadian Tire. The blades would squeak like mad if they had less than a full load of water, and at the end of the stroke they'd turn over and spatter the area just wiped. Well, thought I'd give the Teflon wipers a try. Took a few weeks for Canadian Tire to replenish their stock, but I finally got a 21" and 22" together. The results are excellent; they're as smooth as butter! Sure is nice to have quiet wipers. Drawback is price, and I don't know how long they will last. Making the rubber compound softer will make them quieter and likely faster wearing. For now I'm impressed. |

On this topic I am impressed with the Reflex wipers from Canadian Tire. I do
a fair bit of highway driving and I don't like those add on springs or the "wings" that you can put on your wipers. I put the reflex ones on and they stick to the windshield great at high speeds (130km/h, not that I'm recommending that speed in the rain but I did it to see how they did.) I've had them on since November or December and they are starting to get worn but I did a lot of driving during snow storms too so they got abused a lot (still lasted the six months that manufacturers suggest) Again the price is considerable but I think it was well worth it for driving in the rain at highway speeds. Made my last trip to Moncton a lot better. "Box134" > wrote in message ... > The windshield wiper blades are a particularly wretched annoyance on my > '96SL2. I don't recall seeing those at CDN Tire, maybe it's a regional thing. Nice
to have something that lets you see better on the road. I'm sure the Teflon ones are sold in the U.S. under another brand. I tried them dry; completely quiet! The link may be too long but if you can copy and past it you will see them on the web site with price list. They are basically a wiper blade stuck to a piece of curved flexible metal. The flat surface on the top edge catches the wind and holds them down. "Box134" > wrote in message ... >I don't recall seeing those at CDN Tire, maybe it's a regional thing. Have a rental Pontiac G6. It has this style as OEM, seem to work well, with
a less intrusive visual profile "Roy" <crawroy @ nbnet.nb.ca> wrote in message ... > http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortmen... 1116211231025 > > The link may be too long but if you can copy and past it you will see them > on the web site with price list. Yeah, I like mine. $50(after tax) is quite a lot for a pair of wiper blades
but I think it is definately worth it to be able to see on the highway in the rain. "Chris" > wrote in message .. . > Have a rental Pontiac G6.
