Well, penalties are severe for dealing drugs - life in prison is some places
like Michigan if I remember right - and people still do it anyway.

Actually,some drug crimes are not so severe;I personally know a guy who got
caught growing over 250 pot plants in his garage(not for personal use,with
several firearms present!),and he was sentenced to TWO years in a Federal
prison,and only served half of that. A "country-club" prison,too.
